It was post world cup season and we hunt down the last remaining jersey of his size of his favourite team - France. He was thrilled (evident from the huge smile) and chilled even though his birthday was just before his prelims.
2018 has been a tough year for K as he had to focus on his PSLE preparation. It was such a long and arduous journey for so many of us but the efforts paid off and he got to go to his school of choice.
When the year started, he had to also prepare for his grade 5 violin practical in March and that was so challenging on many fronts. He wanted to register himself for the exams but the spirit and flesh were weak even as we start the year. His teacher ordered additional practice time and classes and we were all fraught with frustration (he almost burst his teacher's blood vessels and his mum aged a few years along the way) could not seem to get his act together. In the last month leading to the exam, he managed to improve and he surprised all of us with his distinction eventually. Phewwwwwww
Feedback came from his school teachers that he was still slacking (our term in summary) while most of his peers have revved up their engines. He played computer games and spent quite a lot of time on his handphone behind our backs and handed in incomplete homework or was late in submitting. We tried the pep talks and dangled carrots but surprise surprise, he was not drawn to them. He only turned the corner and received his morale booster after receiving his violin results! The prelim results were bad (papa almost fainted when he could not do simple P4 maths) and he was at the bottom of his class. Thankfully, the teachers were very supportive and he attended all the remedial classes and finally got down to serious business in the last couple of months.
We took a few days off work to accompany and help him with his revision but deep down, thee was guilt and we did not know if it was enough. There was this huge sense of relief and freedom when PSLE was finally over. OH MY GOODNESS!
20 October 2018
T is finally 10 (2 digits, mum!) and he had a cosy celebration with 4 school buddies and family friends at Bounce during the PSLE marking school break. He was so excited about the celebration and just as adorable as did his counting down of the weeks and days. This was afterall his first birthday party, just like K when he had his at Laser Tag.
He was absolutely thrilled with his birthday presents and we trust that it was a memorable one for him.

This year, T joined the basketball school team and spent 2 days after school to train with his teammates. He enjoys the training and Papa said he has improved much too. However, there was a short period of time when he had to stop his training as there were signs that he was neglecting his schoolwork. It was a lesson learnt for him and he did pull up his socks for the rest of the year and got himself a Good Progress Award which he will be collecting in 2019.
20 December 2018

R had a mini celebration in school, along with the strawberry cake she requested and the goodies we packed for her little friends. We thought it would be quite a small cosy celebration as many of her classmates were not in school earlier but many of them turned up in school that day. No longer a baby but promoted to K1 and we cross our fingers that there will be more cheery school drop-off days in 2019. Being one of the youngest in class, she seems to be more needy and clingy compared to the rest of her friends and it has been challenging on most mornings. But, she is always happy and chirpy during pick up.
We always count our blessings to have little R around as having her helps to lighten things up and the brothers also get to learn to be more helpful, tolerant and patient. The boys enjoy playing with her but the teasing and taunting can get out of hand at times. That said, the little feisty girl is never one to allow herself to be bullied by her older brothers.
