70 is a really big number and to make this birthday a memorable one for him, we decided to go for a family cruise trip!
Gong-gong is a family man -though not as "hands-on"as the new age dads, he played his role well when papa was growing up with his siblings as he provided them with the best environment and support so that they can realise their potentials. He was always there for his family and so is he today providing valuable advice, lending his support and helping hand when we need him, entertaining us with his annecdotes and sharing his life experiences. Do not take the old folks for granted......remember to always respect and love them dearly because we will not be who we are today without them.

We joined the land tours organised by the cruise operator at the 2 stop-overs - Port Klang and Langkawi. At Port Klang, we went shopping and eating at Mid Valley mall for half a day before coming back onboard again for more activities. The food was not exactly great onboard but we did enjoy the western choices available at the Four Seasons Restaurant. The international buffet was a good place for breakfast as it presented lots of choices and was able to meet the differing tastebuds of our group. And on our last night, there was a chocoloco party cum buffet on the open deck where we feasted and indulged in chocolates delights! This was defnitely a highight as it was not part of the deal during our past cruises.
At Langkawi, we joined the eagles feeding tour that included a tour of the Dayang Bunting Marble Geoforest park and made our way to the little islands (i.e. Pregnant maiden lake) via speedboats. We were told by the guide that Langkawi means reddish brown eagle island as this is where these great big birds can be found. The island is perfect for the camera as the surroundings are beautiful and the waters are clear with varying shades of green and blue. We had lunch at one of the beaches and enjoyed the spread of satay, BBQ corn, chicken wings, fried rice and fish balls that were prepared by the natives. Yen spotted a picturesque little spot with a ladder tied with vines and a hanging bridge between 2 large trees near where we had lunch. And as we made our way back to the jetty, we saw people collecting water from a well too - rustic!

And when ah mah was trying her luck in at the games tables, we followed the cruise schedules and caught magic and funny game shows, acrobatics and dance performances. Gong-gong was game for everything and kept himself occupied "roving" around the cruise liner for activities be it performances or games. We had some fun doing Karaoke too and while the adults sang, Kayden was entertained or entertaining the waitresses at the lounge. The activities onboard were really well-planned and the chocoloco party got us feeling all groovy as the nostalgic mambo tunes and the recent Korean hits - "Sorry Sorry" & "Nobody nobody" were staged by the staff.
