First half of the June holidays

Kayden's school had a carnival on 1st June and he joined his fellow P1 friends on stage for a chinese traditional drum performance and had fun with the kiddy rides and activities. Poor Tristan did not join us as he was down with a viral infection and K caught the bug a few days later and started the school holidays with fever and sore throat. Sadly, he had to give the 4-day in-line skating course at the CC a miss :(

But, K recovered in mid-week and was all ready to train for the National Poomsae Competition on that 8 June (Sat). He wanted to compete even though he knew that he would only have trained for a month or so for his new Poom belt pattern. We were managing his expectations for the Competition and emphasizing on the experience rather than the medals as we did not want him to take it too badly if he fails to perform There were only 10 participants for his age (6-8 YO) category and we held our breaths and prayed that he would score above 4.87 as he did his best as the last participant....We shouted and cheered, along with a couple of other parents from the club, when the score board showed a 5.20! He came in 6th and went home happily with a bronze.

The boys loved Epic and are looking forward to Monster University. As T is still at childcare, K is feeling really bored at home without his company especially on days when he was unoccupied. But come week 3 & 4, he should be sufficiently occupied with the Chinese holiday programme.

For week 2, we visited one of our favourite tourist spots - the Zoo! We hit the roads early and filled our tummies with our favourite prata for breakfast. It has been a while since we visited Inuka as our annual pass has expired. This time, we caught Inuka in action not once but twice in his new home! Inuka looked bigger than the last time we saw him and he seemed rather lonely all by himself. The white tigers seemed to have lost weight and the monkeys were hiding from the heat. As usual, we wrapped things up only after the boys have had their fun at the water park and their skin were wrinkled and crinkly.

Tristan has been counting down to the trip and was so happy that he could skip school "Mummy,...on Tuesday I can don't go school but my friends have to go?" He kept asking mummy when could we come back again even though we were only half-done with our visit.
