He was trying his best to shake and loosen this little tooth for more than a month after complaining about his aching gum and realising that the adult tooth was sprouting right behind it. We were so proud of him when he visited the school dentist by himself for the first time during his recess to get his pearlies checked.
He went back to see the dentist twice subsequently before she concluded that the milk tooth was finally ready to be extracted by applying a numbing cream. Tristan was so brave as he was alone with the dentist for the extraction and he did not tear even though he claimed that it was a bit painful.
He has been rather skeptical about the presence of the tooth fairy as he was told during K2 (fairy tales theme) that there was no tooth fairy. He came home and debated with K the firm believer back then as he was the recipient of many $1 coins since his K2 days. However, K had debunked it late last year after discovering that his milk teeth have all been safely kept in a container within one of the drawers in the study room. That said, K is still happy to know that someone in the house is posing as the tooth fairy and distributing the $1 coins and he had also made a few futile requests for the "tooth fairy" to top up $2 for 2 of his lost milk teeth (one down the sewage at home and the other lost in school).
For T, he was jolted awake the next morning as he searched under his pillow immediately for the $1 coin. He felt 2 coins but was intercepted by auntie (she thought the tooth fairy had forgotten to do his/her job during the night and hence slipped in a 50c coin before she went to wake T up) and ended with his one and only treasured $1 coin!
