K has been drawing and making computers lately. He will draw them on pieces of paper and fold them into halves - top being the screen and the bottom being the keyboard. If you asked him, he will tell you he is playing games on his compter and its usually some battle between robots, animals or insects. We are often invited to join him or be part of the challenge where he will always be the eventual winner. During a recent craft session in class, he made a computer out of 2 little boxes and shared his masterpiece with his friends during "show-and-tell".However, late last week, he declared that it will be the "last day for computers...tomorrow will be iphone!" He sounded serious and spoke like a prohet and fan of Apple but ironically, there is no Apple user/fan at home! Hehehe.... he continued drawing computers even days after making that statement.
But, he surprised us again earlier this week when he asked" mummy, what is ipad? Jarrid draws ipad in school...." Mummy is no techie but attempted to explain based on her almost non-existent knowledge of these gadgets "ipad is bigger than iphone and its like iphone's papa."
This reinforces two ideas: boys and gadgets go together and friends in school are as much of an influence, if not more, as the folks at home.
