Making the piano purchase

Blast from the past - the daybed in all its glory back in 2003
The daybed was purchased back in 2003 after much deliberation and efforts made to compare prices and designs that were available back then. It was relegated to the boys' room as a spare bed after the 2010 move but was moved back into the living room in September 2014 when we bought a bunk bed for the boys.

We have been toying with the idea of purchasing a digital piano (Clavinova) from Yamaha for Tristan for a few months. We were not too keen in buying an upright piano for Tristan as we really do not know how long his interest in music would last as he had started keyboard classes more for interest and to prolong his concentration span rather than for the love of classical music and the need for formal training. Space is another factor too but we finally did some re-configuration within the house and agreed that the daybed would have to go.

We decided to get an entry level piano after visiting Cristofori and hearing about the trade-in package that they have for the china-made Pearl River pianos. As you can see, we are really not discerning about the quality of the piano and hence this will do. When we told Tris that the piano is to be his birthday and Christmas present he looked absolutely crestfallen. Ha!
18 Sep and enthusiastic pianists in action
It has been a month since this big piece of furniture (not exactly by function) has arrived and when its time for instrument practice in the house, our ears actually hurt from the clashing of violin strings, piano keys and tiny human voice!
