2016 has been an extremely challenging year for us as things went downhill from 5 April when we received the bad news of porpor's health. As a family, we did all we could, spent time together and were there for each other when we went through the emotional roller-coaster so that there we would have no regrets when the time came. We were positive when her condition stabilised between September to late October but it was shortlived. With heavy hearts, we crossed 2016 and as porpor's condition took a turn for the worse in late December, we braced ourselves for the inevitable.
We know that she is in a better place now. It has been more than a month since porpor left us and we still miss her a lot. Porpor had moved in and stayed with us when she was sick and the children had spent lots of time with her despite the numerous trips and stays at the hospital. Little Reanne surprised us recently as she thought that porpor is still in the hospital and could tell us correctly that a particular bottle of cough mixture which aunty is taking for her cough was porpor's medicine just few days ago. All of us have been sick for the past week or so but we know that we will get better and stronger soon.
For the adults, we got back to our usual work and parenting schedules, are looking forward to our little family break during the March holidays and receiving our little niece in late June or early July! For the kiddos, they are busy with their school and enrichment activities and of course, the dreaded CA1 that is coming up next week for K and the week after for T. For Reanne, she has started going to the childcare from 1 Feb and this warrants a standalone post ;p
We have and will move on bravely to create new stories but the memories will always stay with us.
