Bye bye "Ka"

On Sunday, we trooped down to Terminal 1 for breakfast and bid farewell to Eka ("Ka") as she boarded the 1pm flight back to Surabaya. Its been almost 2 years since she came to our household and during this period of time, she has been such a great help to the adults and a great care-giver to Kayden. We would have loved to keep her with us but she had to be back home to take care of her family and her young son.

We started preparing Kayden for her departure about a week or so before she left but at 2 years of age, he does not appear to understand what this all means to him. Both of them are very close and she really adores him - she lost her appetite during her week of departure and was rather emotional. At the departure hall, he remained calm when he bid farewell to Ka - giving her a great big hug and endless waves. The image of Ka and the little things that she has done for him will definitely stay with him for a period of time....before the new auntie wins him over.
