When the baby goes to school

We were a little excited as we countdown to T's first day in school for a few reasons - will he like school, will he cry, how long will it take for him to adjust to the new routine, will this fussy eater go on a food strike in school and will we be able to manage the different pick-up schedules...etc, the typical parental concerns of sending a toddler to school.

He looked real cute with his little knapsack and was enthusiastic about going to school as he knows K is there too. It also certainly helped that the playground was in clear view the moment he stepped into the compounds. All was well for the first hour or so even when papa went hiding during outdoor play. The floodgates were opened only during snack time and he wailed like there's no tomorrow til papa appeared.

T bumped into K at the playground and the excited older brother went round introducing his "baby" to his friends and teachers. "This is my baby! My baby!" - just like a proud parent. A similar second round of introductions was done during lunch when T dropped by K's class to say bye.
Day 2 and 3 did not go so well though. T stuck close to us througout and refuse to let us out of his sight even though excuses were cooked up. He cried his heart out when he realised he was alone and was inconsolable til either of us appeared.

This is going to be bad......the crying will continue for some time and from the looks of it, the teachers will be attending to a class of crying toddlers (boys especially) when the school week begins. The principal joked that each teacher will be carrying one crying babe on each arm and reinforcements might be activated.

The experience we had 2 years ago was quite different and we cannot help going back to take a peep- http://kaydentristan.blogspot.com/2009/01/kayden-starts-school.html
